Ideal Room

The Interior space I have chosen to survey for the studio work is my bedroom in my family home. My room has recently been redecorated with new flooring and new plaster as the walls were old and the ceiling had a popcorn textured finish. I decided that I wanted the walls painted white as I could decorate my room with different colours and not worry it matching the walls. My room is my personal space that represents me and can be changed easily when I find myself liking a new or different style. Having been spending the majority of time in my room this year due to lockdown I have got to realise what I do and don't like about my room at the moment and have put together a mood board of how I want my house to look like in the future as the space with will be mine to do what I please.

Keeping to the studio brief I will describe the bedroom. My ideal bedroom will be much different and definitely bigger. My favourite colour has always been a dark forest green, I find it very calming as it is a very versatile hue that is associated with freshness, growth and balance. I would have the walls painted this colour and the floor covered in the original floorboard of the house as I love the character it brings to a room. I would layout the room so the vintage four-poster bed is centre of the wall with bedside tables and draws against the side facing walls. At the foot of the bed will sit an ottoman with a huge fully rug. The wall opposite the bed will have a fireplace with a white carved marble rococo mantlepiece, again I find vintage and antique furniture very fascinating as it holds so much history and character no modern designs can. Either side of the fireplace will be built-in shelves to hold personal possession likes photos, jewellery, decor and books. Having a place I can create and design for myself is the most personal space for me.
